“I’m crawling in a hole and never coming out”

Last week I had one of those not so fabulous days where all I wanted to do was crawl in a hole and never come out. Hide from the world for a while. Forget all of those things that seemed to keep on bringing me down. Give myself a break from unsuccessfully trying (yet again) to do things that just didn’t seem to work out for me. Throw myself a pity party.  And then I heard God say “Anna… you can crawl into the deepest hole you can find, but I’ll still be there and I’m going to make sure you don’t stay there long ”. And that’s about as far as I went to crawling into that “hole” of mine.  I didn’t even have time to hang up the balloons and streamers for my party. Send out invitations… to no one. Dig into a bucket of my favorite ice-cream. God has a way of raining on my parade… err….pity party. Or more like filling it with sunshine.

And honestly… just hearing those words brought tears to my eyes. “I will never leave you…”

Those same words are meant for you today. Whether you’re in a valley or a mountain peak – God will never leave you. He won’t leave you to handle the burdens of life on your own. He won’t leave you with no map, guidance, or directions to figure things out on your own. Hibernating from God, the world, your friends and family is not the answer. You can’t just hide from things in your life that you don’t want to deal with and hope that in time it’ll just “figure itself out”. After you come out of hibernation it’ll magically be resolved. No, God is with you today and He will help you face those things you don’t want to face. Overcome those struggles that always bring you to your knees. Jump over the obstacles that seem to stand in the way of you becoming who you want to be or going where you want to go.

Yes, it’s easier to hibernate. To hide from the world. But isn’t it so much better to be a overcomer with God? To not allow the weight of your burdens to overwhelm you? Your are supposed to place them at Jesus’ feet. Let Him handle them for you in ways that you could never handle them yourself.

When you want to give up… don’t give up on yourself, don’t give up on what you may be hoping or praying for… instead give it up to God. Stop trying to do it on your own. He’s there to help you.

And never forget – nothing can separate you from God and His incredible love for you. Even if you let Him down. Run from Him. He is still there. Waiting patiently for you to run into His loving arms and surrender everything to Him so that He can take care of you only the way a loving father takes care of his beloved child. Let HIM be there for you. 🙂

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Rom 8:38-39

  1. Hi Anna we have the same name in the Hebrew it comes from Hannah the same as Annie and means Grace. I loved your message it was full of Hope, how often we forget just how much God Loves us and that His planes for us are for good not evil. As I was reading your message some Scripture was crossing my mind and heart ( see below) another thing I hold onto is when we ask God for those things He has promised us, He keeps His word, He does not say one thing and give us another unless what we ask for is for the wrong motives or is bad for us.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Psalm 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made Heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Christian Love from both of us – Anne

    • Hi Anne- thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and the encouraging scriptures. God truly does keep His word and the promises He set before us and it’s important to remember that during those times when it seems like nothing is happening. 🙂 God bless you!

  2. I really like this post Anna. I, too, of late have been trying to throw a pity party for myself. This post really hits home for me. I thank our Gracious Lord that He never does leave us… what a peace that brings to an aching soul, wounded body and troubled mind. Thanks you!

    • Yes… it’s always so comforting to know that no matter how out of our control life may seem at moments, it will always turn out just fine at the end because GOD is in control and He makes everything work out for the good! 🙂 Be blessed.
