About Me

I believe life is a journey.

A journey that begins long before you take your first breath and are placed in the arms of your mother.

A journey that continues on long after you take your final breath and are placed in a grave.

It’s a journey that has many ups and downs. Many valleys. Many mountains. Many deserts.

This blog is my personal space to record my walk with Christ and the journey He takes me on each day.

The lessons He teaches me through the heartaches and joys of life.

The challenges He sets before me through His Word and His leading.

This is my place to encourage you just as He encourages me.

To challenge you as He convicts and challenges me.

To share what’s in my mind and on my heart.

A few things about me…

I’m just a simple girl from a little village in Ukraine.

I live in the busy and beautiful Seattle area.

I enjoy waking up early in the morning to watch sunrises and staying up late to watch sunsets.

I love reading. All day. And anything.

I could eat mint-chocolate chip ice-cream all day long. And Nutella. And spicy chips (please don’t judge me.) Avocados are great too. 😉

I love falling asleep to the sound of rain.

I hate shopping.

And once in a while I like my wavy/curly/whatever you want to call it hair.

I like hikes with beautiful views on top.

I like camping when there aren’t too many spiders around.

I like beaches, mountains, road trips, and the sun when it feels like coming out (which isn’t too often around here).

I like brand new journals waiting to be filled with my thoughts and prayers.

I love working with children at my church.

Teaching them about God on Sunday’s and watching them grow into all God has called them to be during some of the most critical and transformational years of their life.

I also have the privilege of working with foster children at my job.

I get to witness Christ’s love unfold daily as I work with foster parents who lovingly open up their hearts and homes to families and children in crisis. It’s absolutely beautiful.

So this is all you really need to know about me.

I’m a daughter. I’m a sister. I’m a teacher. I’m a reader. I’m a writer.

But more than anything I’m just an ordinary student who is learning daily from the greatest Teacher of all. Jesus.

You are more than welcome to join me on this journey that God has been leading me on as well as share what He has been teaching you on yours. 🙂

If this is your first time here and you want to browse around you can check out some of my best blog posts here. 🙂

I hope you enjoy this journey with me. Anna… ♥

  4. Hey Anna! I also stumbled upon your post through a post I saw on Facebook. So excited to read your posts. From your “About” page, I see we have some things in common – I’m also a youth leader for teen girls at my church in NYC. I’m an avid reader (reading John Donne at the moment but I’m a huge fan of paranormal teen romances…it’s the eternal romantic in me! lol) and I have my own blog @ livmigenes.blogspot.com

Will definitely follow you through bloglovin so I can keep up to date with your posts 🙂

    • Hi Liv! That’s so awesome that you work with teen girls! (Isn’t it so much fun??) 🙂 And I’ve always wanted to go to New York! You might have to give me some tips of places to check out if I go anytime soon 😉 I can’t wait to check out your blog as well! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by here. I love meeting new people that I have a lot in common with! Maybe our paths will actually cross one day 😉 Hope you have a blessed day!! ♥

  5. Hi Anna,
I hardly read blogs (and not so good with composing), but I stumbled on your blog about friends, and seems that I could relate to that, I like it. Hope that we could interact some time though.

  8. Wonderful bio. Anna! I love almost everything you mentioned on your list as well. I love to fall asleep to the sound of rain. However, living in the California desert, I haven’t had much sleep lately!

    Today is better…

    • Thanks Steven! I’ve always loved California, deserts and all! I don’t know if I’d trade it for the beautiful Pacific Northwest though. Seeing Mt. Rainier from my house would certainly be a sight I’d miss!

      • I happen to agree with that! I used to have family just outside Seattle a few years ago…(longer ago than I’ll admit to!)

I spent a lot of time including several summers in Washington state and up in B.C. To be honest, I’d give up Cali. in an instant to be able to live up there!!

Hey thanks for your reply, I really enjoy hearing from new readers, especially the nice ones!

Have a super weekend, Anna, and we’ll be talking again soon…

    • Hi! Thank you for your sweet words! That’s so exciting that you’re in seminary right now (I’ve considered doing that myself before). It’s awesome that God is calling you to minister in a place where so many people are suffering and are in need of encouragement and hope and with God’s help you can help them find it in Him. May He bless you on your journey as you finish up seminary and begin the work He has called you to do there.

I will make sure to check out your posts this week. Looking forward to reading them! 🙂 Be blessed sister!

  9. Really beautiful, Anna! You are doing a great thing here! Keep it up! I was in youth ministry for 10 years, and there is something so effective about a young, beautiful single girl who is dedicated to Jesus. Girls need to see that so much. I’m sure you are a tremendous role model. Your post today was awesome as well. Don’t grow weary in well-doing!!!

    • This was so encouraging to read! It really is an honor to work with teens (especially since I know how hard those years can be.) I sure hope I am a good role model for them just like so many girls were for me at that age. Thank you for your kind words Kate. May you continue being used as God’s blessing to everyone around you. Be blessed!

  10. Anna, we have much in common! I too hate shopping, love falling asleep to rain, and can inhale mint chocolate chip ice cream. (can’t say the same about Nutella, however!) 🙂
I’m looking forward to following your blog. Thanks for sharing your journey so transparently.

    • What? No Nutella for you? You are certainly missing out! (But I’m sure your body is grateful for it) 😉 I’m excited to read what God has been teaching you on your journey with Him as well. Be blessed and have a lovely day Stacy!

    • Thank you Keishawna. This means so much to me. Your posts are an encouragement to me as well! May God continue to pour into your life and bless you as you bless others with your words and your life. Have a lovely day!

  11. Came across your blog clicking around out of boredom 😉 I love your purpose and your style.
May God continue to richly bless all of your endeavors.

I too love falling asleep to the sound of rain. To the point where I am automatically sleepy at work when it rains 🙂

    Blessings my sister

    • Thank you for your kind and encouraging words JC! I’m glad that my blog can be helpful to even one more person who happens to stumble upon it. 🙂 And yes… rain always makes me want to curl up in a warm, cozy bed and fall asleep (which is not the greatest thing when you want to be productive) 😉

May God bless you as well and continue using your words, your life, and your heart to inspire and encourage everyone around you! Be blessed sister!

  12. I have randomly come across your blog via Pintrest and each I have been blessed. Many times it seems as if your writings were something my heart wrote. May God strengthen you as you encourage others!

    • Thank you for your kind words. I’m glad the blog has been a blessing to you. May God bless and fulfill His promises to you as you enter into this year and use you mightily for His kingdom in the days to come! Keep on walking strong with Him! Be blessed!

    • Thank you so much! That’s so sweet of you. You are more than welcome to save my pictures (I do the same with blog posts I read too) 😉 Thank you for being a huge encouragement through your blog as well. I’m glad we get to encourage others together through the things that God teaches us daily. I hope you have a very blessed and memorable Christmas!

  13. I love your blog, and am really looking forward to reading more. Thanks for the follow…it’s always wonderful making new friends!

    • Thank you! That’s so kind of you! I’m not too big on awards, but if I have time tomorrow I’ll try to answer the questions. 🙂 And congrats on receiving the award! May God continue to use your words to bless others!

  14. Great blog Anna, and by the way, have you tried Nutella on Graham crackers. If you haven’t it’s heavenly! Good reading and insight. Will look around you blog some more.

  16. Not sure of the best way to contact you, so I’m just gonna leave a note here 🙂 Just wondering a few things… I’ve blogged on and off for a while – I love writing – but I haven’t been able to stay consistent with it. Have any ideas on how to stay disciplined to keep up with it? Also, I love how developed your blog is. Did you build it over time or set a day or two aside to develop it all? And the photos/graphics – do you create all of those yourself? Any tips from you on blogging is appreciated! Great job here!

    • Hey Anna! (LOVE your name by the way) 😉

I (luckily) already wrote a post that answers a few of your questions (the link is below). 🙂

I did develop the blog by myself (which should make you feel good, if I can then anyone can ;)) I honestly started from the first day I began my blog. I add things or take them away whenever I think they will be beneficial or helpful for the purpose of my blog. Some of the ideas I got from other bloggers when I first check out their blog and see widgets or pages that I like I add them to my own, others I randomly think up and do myself.

As for staying disciplined with writing, that’s probably a tough one for any blogger. Sometimes I want to write 30 posts in one day and other days I couldn’t write an intro to one post if I spent half the day in front of the computer.

I personally try to blog three times a week. I already have word documents of ideas for posts (around 20 or more) that are ready for me to choose from (that God has put on my heart one time or another) so when I sit down to blog I scan through each one and I see which one really stands out to me that day and I choose to write that one. Sometimes I write it, sometimes I end up writing half of it and moving on to another one because I can’t finish it so I save it for another day.

What I know has helped most bloggers is to have a schedule to follow for blogging and to already have planned which post you want to write which day and then write it. I personally love writing early in the morning when my mind is still pretty fresh (or during my lunches at work). I’m a morning person so that works for me. I know some people can write three posts in one day (like on Sunday) and then pre-schedule the posts throughout the week (hopefully I’ll get there one day) but honestly, it’s what works best for you. You just need to set the time and place and do it (just like with prayer).

Other than that I have some tips below. 🙂 Feel free to ask any more questions, blogging isn’t always the easiest, but if God has put it on your heart to write it’s good to keep yourself motivated to do it. 🙂 I hope this was somewhat helpful. Be blessed!

      • Thanks so much! I do love writing and I want to develop the skill in myself more. I feel one of the easiest and best ways to do that is through blogging. Thanks so much for the tips and I’m looking forward to reading this post! Thanks again!

Anna (it is ia nice name, isn’t it 🙂 )

  19. Hi! I love your blog! I was wondering… since I havent come across you mentioning it but what kind of career are you pursuing and why? Just wondering. I feel like I can relate a lot to the way you think, though of course we’re still both different people. And right now it’s so hard for me to figure out what I want to do career wise and I’m open to ideas and hearing from other people their career choices and how it is for them. Hope you will answer soon. (:

    • Hi Julie! Oh man… the career question, that’s a tough one! When I was a little girl I wanted to be a pilot, in high school I wanted to be a respiratory therapist, in college I wanted to be a teacher, and now I’m a full time accountant (for the past 4 years). I’m sure you saw that one coming 😉

But that’s (obviously) not my area of expertise by any means nor where I plan to stay forever (although it’s tempting because I love it.)

I actually got my Bachelors in Psychology last year and am waiting to figure out what step to take next (whether or not to get my Master or wait and volunteer/work somewhere in the field of psychology to get more experience) because what I really want to do more than anything is work with people (specifically people who need help.)

So honestly don’t know where the road will lead next when it comes to my career. (I know, I’m not being too helpful). Maybe you can come back and ask me where I’m at in 5 years? 😉

But my advice to you is this: figure out what you like to do, what you are passionate about, what will be practical for the future, and do it. I believe God puts desires in you for a reason as well as gives you certain talents and those desires and talents can give you cues of where to go next or what to do.

When I was in high school (sadly) I wasn’t too concerned about my future and I regret not using that time to figure out what my strength and weaknesses were and what I felt like God was calling me to do.

If I was in your shoes I would take time to really sit down and think about what you love to do and what you’re good at and what type of career would benefit from both your passion and your skills. If you’re not certain about a career find someone in that field and talk to them about what they do on a daily basis and see if you are still interested in the end.

Also, there are some great personality tests you can take that can help you locate your strengths and tell you what careers would work best for you. Here are two:

      1. http://personalitypage.com/
      2. http://www.personalitypathways.com/type_inventory.html

Take them and see if they help you at all. 🙂

Sorry for my essay. 😉 I hope this was at least a little bit helpful. Let me know what you end up deciding to do. God bless you!

      • Actually I have considered going into accounting myself for some time, and I was always interested in psychology and teaching as well. So I guess we really do have somewhat similar interests, as I suspected. (:
After really thinking about it and researching a lot, I’ve decided to double-major in Spanish and Business. And I’m actually really excited about it, especially becoming fluent in Spanish part. It’s a skill I plan to not just use for business but perhaps for future mission trips as well. So I’m really excited about it! (:
        Thanks for answering! And I totally loved the essay. (;

        • Yes, we do 😉 I’m so glad you figured out what you want to do! Speaking Spanish fluently (especially here in America) will definitely be useful in the working field (as well as missions)! I’m excited for you! I know God’s going to use you for His glory in whatever work field He leads you to. 🙂 Be blessed!

          • Thanks! God bless you as well! In all aspects of your life, including this blog. Keep on writing and being a blessing and light to others! (:

  20. Anna, I’m so glad you somehow stumbled upon my blog and that through that I was able to find yours. Youth ministry has been a big piece of my story too, and the way you speak about your kids reminds me so much of things I have said about my own. I’m grateful to connect with someone who “gets it!” 🙂 Looking forward to interacting even more!

    • I am glad I found you Amber! I love connecting with other people who are in youth (or teens for me) ministry! We definitely “get things” about what it means to work with a certain age group that no one else does. 😉 I hope you have a blessed day. And may you always continue influencing and blessing all the kids in your life!

  21. Hi there,
Thank you for visiting and following my blog. I am honored and really impressed read your ” about me”. will spend my time to read more your great stuff 🙂 Blessing!

  22. Hi Anna,
I love your blog and I am so thankful that I came across it. My sister and I recently started writing a blog that focuses on prayerful reflections for young women, and your content has given me great new ideas for posts. I am so happy to know that there are others writing on this topic and working to help young people find God in their lives. I am sure we will be referencing your blog in the future and directing people toward it as a great resource. I especially love the posts about becoming a proverbs 31 woman – absolutely beautiful!

    Thank you and God bless!!
    Emily and Caroline Thompson

    • Thank you Emily and Caroline! I haven’t posted about Proverbs 31 lately so this is a good reminder that I need to work on that. I’m glad it’s a blessing to you.

I absolutely love the idea of your blog for young women. I would love to read it! If you can, leave me the link for it so I know where to find it. 🙂 May you bless and encourage many young ladies in their walk with Jesus with it! Thanks for stopping by. God bless you both!

      • The site is myprincessprayer.wordpress.com. Thanks, we look forward to reading future posts, and we will definitely pass along your thoughts for single women to our own readers!

        • Awesome! I just checked it out and I love your blog already!! It’s so great to see people stepping up and sharing what God placed on their heart specifically for things that young women struggle with. May He use your words and your blog for His glory 🙂 Be blessed!

    • Thank you Bri. It’s so amazing that instead of “hating” and judging Jahar you are uniting with other Christians to pray for God to change his heart and work in his life. May you continue to remain steadfast in interceding for him and may God truly bring a lost sheep home. Be blessed!

      • I have no plans of ever quitting. 🙂 When God lays a passion on your heart, you’ve gotta keep it burning. And when He lays someone on your heart, you’ve gotta never give up on that person. God bless.

        • Good! You should never quit! It’s not easy to intercede on someone’s behalf but God didn’t put it on your heart for no reason. May you continue trusting in Him for His intervention in Jahar’s life. Blessings to you!

  23. Well, I’m just one in a looong list, but I wanted to say hi and thank you for stopping by my blog. From one Anna to another that dearly loves God, isn’t it wonderful that He knows us individually and intimately and has a special name for each of us?! (Rev.2:17) I look forward to meeting you then 🙂

    • Hi Anna!! I love meeting people with my name 😉 It is definitely incredible to be loved by an Almighty Father who knows us intimately even when there are billions of us on this planet! And yes, I look forward to meeting you then as well 😉 Be blessed!

    • Thanks Adelina! I’m so glad I stumbled upon your blog! Couldn’t help but read a few of your posts! 😉 It makes me overjoyed to see that there are young people like you out there who are standing strong in faith and shining the light for Jesus in this dark world! May you continue to use your life and your words to be a blessing to everyone around you. 🙂 Be blessed!

    • I’m so glad I did! I love that you are using your writing to share your story and to encourage others who have been through any kind of abuse. It’s not easy sharing about things that bring back so much pain but you are using yours to inspire others to have hope for their own futures. That’s incredible! May you continue to bless others with your life and your words! Take care!

  24. Anna,

I wanted to stop by and take a peek at your blog and thank you for stopping by and liking “About His Eternal Word”. I must say that I have enjoyed reading through some of your posts and will definitely come back for more inspiration. I also enjoy beautiful sunrises and glorious sunsets that our Creator has provided for us to enjoy, especially on the open ocean onboard the USS NIMITZ, when the water was so still and smooth, it looked just like glass.

You have an awesome blog and it would be my prayer that God will continue to use your gift of writing through this blog to tell others of His Love, Peace, Grace and Mercy that He wants to give to those who are truly seeking His Son, Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless and keep you in His precious care.

    His servant … Mikey

    • Hi Mikey! Sunsets and sunrises are definitely the best right by the ocean!! (Lucky for us that we both have one near us!) Thank you so much for your kind words. I pray that God will use the words on this blog to continue encouraging others in their walk with Him! May He do the same through your blog! I hope you have a lovely weekend. Be blessed!

  25. Hi Anna,
Thanks for checking out my blog. I’m glad I strolled through yours. Loved reading about your journey with Christ – all that you do especially with teens on your mission trips. Love your heart for the homeless!
We have a lot in common: in laws were Ukranian, love chocolate and the sound of rain (sat watching rain as a child all the time!). Sunsets move me so much that this years calendar theme is sunsets. Each Christmas I give family and friends calendars made from photos I took, coupled with Bible verses (next years theme: autumn, if you can believe it).

    • Hi Vicki! That’s so neat that you are somehow connected to the “Slavic” world. It seems like we’re everywhere now 😉

I saw the most beautiful sunset last night (it’s posted on the side of my main page under instagram pictures). They take my breath away every time! God is so gracious with His beautiful gifts in the nature that we get to appreciate 🙂

That’s fabulous that you make calendars for your friends and family. I’m sure they love it! Thanks for stopping by. I’ll be checking for updates on your blog. 😉 Be blessed!

      • Dear Anna,
Thanks for your reply. Forgot to tell you how much I love your blog…don’t think I expressed it adequately in my first comment. Everything about it is so God-honoring. All your content exudes glory to God. Rest in His presence today!

        • Thanks Vicki 🙂 There’s nothing I want to do more than honor God with my words. That’s so encouraging to hear. I’m so happy I came across your blog as well! I look forward to reading your future posts! It’s so neat that you are in the field of education. We need more God-fearing people like you to teach those young minds! 🙂 God bless you!

  26. Hi Anna, I’ve nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award… tonicscale.wordpress.com/2013/06/03/the-one-lovely-blog-award/ Thank you so much for your words of inspiration…

    • Thank you! That’s really kind of you. May God bless your time in California by the ocean! (I sure wouldn’t mind being there myself) 😉 I look forward to reading your future posts when you have the chance to write there. Take care!

  27. God bless you in your work with kids! And, may you have many mint chocolate chip moments in many places! (I share your appreciation for both youth and ice cream)

I’m blogging my way through The Bible’s story in 2013. I hope you’ll stop by.

    • Thanks Dave! I sure hope my mint-chocolate chip moments will never stop! 😉 And I most definitely will check out your blog! Our curriculum for teens this year is to teach them every book of the Bible so I think your posts will be very helpful. 🙂

  28. This is beautiful! Thank you for visiting my blog today…and for your prayers for Oklahoma. My brother and his two children where only about 1/2 a mile away when the storm hit and we are so thankful they are fine! My heart goes out to families who aren’t okay. I can’t imagine…

    • Wow. That must have been frightening for them to be so close to the storm! I can only imagine how I would feel knowing that it could be me in the middle of it at any moment. Thank God they are safe! May God bless everyone as they help in the recovery process… Thanks for stopping by Sarah. Be blessed!

    • Wow. Thank you so much! And I can definitely say the same about you and your blog! Your words are so encouraging to read. May God continue using you and your gift to inspire everyone around you for His glory. Be blessed!!

  29. Hey girl!

I appreciate your great bucket list 🙂 maybe someday I can help with something on that in some way. Look forward to one day meeting you!

  30. Amazing!! Thanks for liking my page.. What an awesome blog you have here! I look forward to more! Continue inspiring and giving God the glory..

    Blessing & Love

  31. anna I am very new to blogging I have always enjoyed the times I make entries into my journal now that I have found this opportunity to express my thoughts and feeling about life in this format it is wonderfull
the blog about me was wonderfull
I have only looked at one or two of your past blogs but it looks to me that you are a blessing to others. keep up the great work.

May God continue to Bless you

    • Thank you! Blogging was definitely new territory for me when I first began but I absolutely love sharing what’s on my heart and what God has been teaching with others (not just in my journals), as well as reading what others are learning and going through. I think you will really enjoy it 🙂 I look forward to reading your future posts. Be blessed!

  32. Hi Anna – I’ve nominated you for the Shine On Award, Beautiful Mama Blog Award, and Super Sweet Blogging Award. Please don’t feel pressured to accept any of them. I simply chose you because I felt that your blog was worthy of those awards. If you would like to accept any or all of the awards, you may do so by clicking onto this link:

As I said before, please don’t feel any pressure to accept. I just wanted to bless you, because your blog blesses me.

    Much love,

    • Thank you so much Cheryl. That is so sweet and thoughtful of you! I will try to do my own this weekend (if I can make time for it). May God bless you and continue using you to inspire and bless others through your blog! 🙂

  33. Thanks for visiting my blog. I like your blog. Noticed your page for the single ladies … good idea! I was one of the last of my friends to get married, but all those years being single taught me to cherish the undistracted devotion to The Lord.

    • Thanks Joyce! Singleness is definitely one of those seasons in life that has its high’s and low’s (like any season), and since that’s where I’m at right now I love encouraging others who are in the same shoes as me 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. Be blessed!
